Immersive visual arts collective TeamLab is putting the finishing touches on its Borderless Shanghai Museum, a year after opening its successful space in Tokyo, which welcomed more than 2.3 million visitors in its first year.
TeamLab Borderless Shanghai will open its doors on November 5 in the Huangpu district and will host 50 interactive digital artworks from the collective, including a set of new pieces that have never been seen before. The Borderless Shanghai Museum is a single, continuous world, with works of art blending into each other beyond arbitrary boundaries such as rooms.
Visitors to the new museum can interact with the pieces, including the collective’s ‘Lamp Forest’ artwork, which will be installed on a scale 1.5 times that of Tokyo. ‘Light Community’, based on moving vehicles, will also make its debut in Shanghai along with another piece made up of 980 moving lights.
Walk, explore and discover in a world without borders

teamLab Borderless is a group of artworks that form a world without borders. The works of art leave the rooms, communicate with other works, influence and sometimes intermingle with each other without limits.
Immerse your body in this art without borders. Walk, explore with intention, discover and create a new world with others.
